Two updates from the weekend.
1 - Jeremy had a great day and did Jenga in two tries and Hungry Hungry Hippos in a total of about 4 tries I think. That includes him doing the stand. Then he went down the hill and did Moj in maybe 30-45 minutes. Very nice work and I think it's safe to say we're all happy for him. Days like that are rare and should be cherished.
2 - Ellen and Pat both did Whiskey A Go-Go it seems. At least according to the bookface and Mr. Narcs pics. As far as I know this is its FFA and I'm supremely impressed with Ellens work on it. I had no clue she was even working it but that some proud effort for sure. I was surprised and psyched when I saw the pics today.
Well done Ellen and Pat. Also, Pat, do you seriously skip the right hand gaston?!?!?!? Christ...Lanky bastard.
Sounds like Eggnuts is up at the lake with Katie and company. Hoping Katie does Hungry Hippos. She's very close on it.
Hello world!
Well it was lookin like the hike up the talus was gonna be a total bust for a bit, then Katie just got her game face on and stepped up. Super impressive. After that, I was inspired. Hard not to be. What a great evening. Sounds like some sandstone is next on the hit list for the strong folks. I LOVE DEVILS LAKE! We are so lucky. ce
ReplyDeleteYeah, great job everyone! Killer weekend for the sending. Shit is getting done!
ReplyDeleteIn the summer of 03 or 04, I watched Lindsey(forgot her last name) hang the draws on Whiskey, then at the end of the day she got them down. She was up there with Groth, and a group of us from LaX were just floored by her endurance. She climbed a bunch of other hard stuff during the day too. That is still one of the most impressive things I've seen.
Tomorrow and/or Thursday anyone?
Remo
Remo if Thursday is decent, Travis and I will be headed out in the afternoon at DL (maybe 3pm?). You would be most welcome. Let's talk before that. I think Trav wants to rope up but he could probably be convinced to do whatever. ce
ReplyDeleteI skip the right hand gaston and I'm 5 7 on a good day. Just saying. in other news, I'm moving to Madison in six weeks. PB.
ReplyDeleteRemo - I think Katie, Ian and I were headed out to the lake tomorrow if the weather (fingers crossed) holds.
ReplyDeletePat - NICE! It'll be fun to have you around climbing more!
Ellen AND PAT - NICE FREAKING WORK!
Wait, which PB is moving to madison?? Bonamici????
ReplyDeleteIt's Boner-mici. He also constructs, sets and plays the fiddle. A-M-A-Z-I-N-G
ReplyDeleteYep.. Bon is moving to Madtown.. Go ahead and take him...

Nic's right. I'm just going to look for cliffs big enough to climb. PB
ReplyDeleteLucky bastard Pat, no more two hours drives for you. Jealous!
ReplyDelete....maybe one day I too can be in Madison... stupid Milwaukee!
When did Madison become the boulder of the Midwest? I know you have hippies but the climbing around Minneapolis is way better. We have more hard problems, better routes, 2 gyms... well the hard problems may change after Ian is done putting up the Mega classic "SNAKE PROJECT" or maybe a circular Trav?
ReplyDelete-nic
everybody knows that the low, low left start of the circular traverse is impossible. You're silly to even post that idea. the kneeling low right start however can still be completed in a circular traverse fashion and that is going to be rad!
ReplyDeleteYou could always make use of the vast majority of upside-down holds on a lot of the boulders at the lake by climbing upside down. There inlies the new mega classics, even better than the snake project. :P
ReplyDeleteThis gem also awaits an FA: http://mountainproject.com/v/hemorrhoads-project/106560275
ReplyDeleteWho's gonna get it? Who? Who?

I have lost any hope of something cool and hard being found in WI... MN will remain the best of the midwest.
